Prepare your introduction video

Your introduction video helps us verify your identity and see how you teach. Record 1 to 2 minutes, with your face visible, and share the link in step 2 of the course proposal form.

You can prepare and save your proposal while you work on the video. The video field is optional.

Use this outline as a starting point and adapt it to your experience. Speak naturally: you do not need to memorize a script or make a professional production.

  1. Introduce yourself (about 15 seconds). “Hi, I'm [name or pseudonym]. I work in [area], and my experience with [topic] is [relevant experience].”
  2. Describe what you want to teach (about 20 seconds). “I want to teach [topic] to [type of student], so they can [specific outcome].”
  3. Explain a concept (about 45 seconds). Choose a simple idea from your course and explain it as if you were speaking to a student. Use an example or comparison to make it understandable.
  4. Wrap up (about 20 seconds). Explain why you want to teach this topic and what students will be able to do after taking your course.

These timings are suggestions and add up to about 1 minute and 40 seconds. Rehearse once and adjust your content to stay between 1 and 2 minutes.

  • Lighting: face a window or lamp that lights your face. Avoid a window or bright light behind you, which can leave your face in shadow.
  • Framing: place the camera at eye level, keep your face and shoulders visible, and support your phone or camera so the image stays steady.
  • Audio: choose a quiet room. Use an external microphone if available; your phone or computer microphone is also fine if your voice is clear.
  • Quality: record in landscape at 720p or higher.
  • Length: keep the video between 1 and 2 minutes.

Make a short test recording and play it back to check the lighting, framing and sound.

  6. Paste the link into Unlisted YouTube link, in step 2 of Propose a course.

If you already uploaded the video, open YouTube Studio → Content, find the video and change Visibility → Unlisted → Save. See YouTube's visibility help.

Copy the link to a specific video, using youtube.com/watch?v=… or youtu.be/…. A link to your channel, a playlist or another platform does not work in this field.

The form validates the link's format. You check that the video is watchable by opening it without signing in.
