The form has three steps and you can move freely between them. Required fields aren't validated until you press Submit course, so you can fill it in whatever order you like.
Open it with Create course from your instructor space.
Step 1 · Course details
Section titled “Step 1 · Course details”- Course name
- Course type:
- MOOC (self-paced) — the student moves at their own speed.
- Cohort-based (with a calendar) — a group moves together on fixed dates.
- Course language
- Start date and end date
- Number of lessons
- Recurrence, schedule and time zone
Recurrence and schedule are what make a cohort course work; in a MOOC they mostly signal a suggested pace.
Step 2 · About the course
Section titled “Step 2 · About the course”This is the case for why your course should exist:
- Elevator pitch
- What problem it solves for students
- 3 learning objectives
- Your ideal student
- Presentation video(s)
- The rights checkbox: "I hold the rights to the content and agree to share it under an open licence"
Step 3 · Content per lesson
Section titled “Step 3 · Content per lesson”You add lessons one at a time with Add lesson. For each one you describe:
- Lesson title
- Topics — added one by one
- Objectives
- Activities
- Materials — links with Add link, or files with Attach file
Every item has its own Remove in case you added one too many.
Submitting
Section titled “Submitting”Before the Submit course button works, these have to be sorted:
- A complete instructor profile — if something's missing you'll see Complete profile →.
- GitHub connected — if not, Connect GitHub →.
- The form's required fields. If any are missing you'll see "Required fields are missing or there are errors. Check the marked fields."
On submission we create your course's space on GitHub and open a Pull Request. You'll see "Opening Pull Request…" and, once it's ready, the link and the next steps.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”Your proposal is reviewed in that GitHub Pull Request: that's where you'll get the feedback and where it gets approved. You can follow its status in My courses.
